Nikita Balagurov

Nikita Balagurov is a senior lecturer at the department of history at National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in St. Petersburg. He earned his MA in Art History from European University at Saint-Petersburg and is now finishing his PhD dissertation on the collecting practices of Alexander III at HSE. He is also part of the Getty sponsored research project “Periodization in the History of Art and its Conundrums” at the New Europe College in Bucharest. His research interests are history of collecting, art patronage, Romanov’s collections, nineteenth century Russian painting, canon, art historiography, Realism, Repin, and Alexander Ivanov.
