Apostrophe is presenting images of well-known Russian paintings and how they would look like during our times of social distancing.

CfP: Eighth Graduate Workshop

The Call for Papers for the forthcoming Eighth Graduate Workshop of the Russian Art & Culture Group is finally published to be answered by you!

The workshop’s topic will be The Problem of Religious Art in Modernity. Uses and Abuses of the Icon in Russia. Thanks to our collaboration with the Internationales Kolleg Morphomata the venue will be at Cologne University. From September 23rd to 25th (exact dates depend on the amount of submissions) the discussions of international junior and senior scholars will be joined by our keynote speaker, Professor George Pattison from Glasgow.

Please send an abstract of no more than 250 words along with a short biographical note of 100 words by May 15, 2020 to workshop@russian-art.net.

Location of Next Workshop Revealed

We are happy to share some early information on the forthcoming eighth graduate workshop of the Russian Art & Culture Group. It will take place in Cologne! Like in the previous years, the workshop is scheduled for the second half of September. The exact date and topic of the 2020 workshop will be announced within the next weeks as well as the Call for Papers.

We are already looking forward to interesting presentations and vivid discussions. Besides the company of fellow researchers, Cologne has a lot to offer during your visit, like its magnificent Gothic Cathedral, historic Romanesque churches, and exciting museum collections and exhibitions.
